New York Seeks to Lead in U.S. Offshore Wind Projects

RTO Insider reports that New York State policymakers are embracing offshore wind for its utility-scale generation, its ability to be developed close to the major load centers of New York City and Long Island, and its potential jobs. New York has the largest goal for offshore wind in the country: 2,400 megawatts, and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority officials are drafting a master plan that will include a plan for transmission to move wind-generated power to shore.
