Clemson University to Test World’s Most Powerful Wind Turbine

MHI Vestas Offshore Wind and Clemson University in South Carolina announced that testing and verification of the gearbox and main bearings for the world’s most powerful wind turbine will be conducted at Clemson’s Energy Innovation Center, which was built with $45 million in Recovery Act funds from the U.S. Department of Energy. The V164-9.5 MW wind turbine is the turbine most likely to be used for the first round of major offshore wind projects in the United States.
