Free Wind Training Begins in Wyoming: An Adventure for Some, a Lifeboat for Others

Oct. 28, 2017

The Casper Star Tribune continues to follow the story of turbine manufacturer Goldwind America offering free wind technician classes to interested Wyoming residents. A recent article follows several students taking advantage of the training and utilizing Casper College’s climbing tower, built in 2011 with a U.S. Department of Energy grant that also helped fund construction of similar simulators in other locations. According to the CEO of Goldwind, proposed wind projects in the state will bring jobs in the future. In the meantime, he said, “There is an opportunity for folks today to move with Goldwind. They can get the basic skills, grow, and as the wind industry starts to mature here in Wyoming, they can always come back.”
