Study Finds More Support for Offshore Wind in New England than Public Perceives

Oct. 30, 2017

According to researchers at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a new investigation published in the journal Energy Policy shows that study participants who said they support New England offshore wind significantly overestimated the level of opposition to this renewable resource among their fellow New Englanders. According to the authors, “Such perceptions may play an important role in shaping public discourse and broader debates over the development and implementation of these technologies in the future, yet they are infrequently considered by developers, policymakers, as well as advocates and opponents alike.”
