Maryland Energy Administration Announces Offshore Wind Business and Workforce Development Program Award Winners

The Maryland Energy Administration announced awards for the 2018 Offshore Wind Business and the Offshore Wind Workforce Development grants, which are designed to prepare Maryland’s businesses and workforce to participate in two offshore wind projects recently approved by the Maryland Public Service Commission. According to Order No. 88192, the projects will result in 368 megawatts of offshore wind capacity in the Atlantic Ocean, yielding “in the aggregate over $1.8 billion of in-state expenditures and spurring the creation of almost 9,700 new Maryland jobs.” The Maryland Energy Administration grants will help ensure a skilled workforce.
