2018 Massachusetts Offshore Wind Workforce Assessment Available

April 26, 2018

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center released its 2018 Massachusetts Offshore Wind Workforce Assessment, a report that analyzes the workforce needs and economic development impacts associated with the deployment of 1,600 megawatts of offshore wind in Massachusetts. Authored by researchers at Bristol Community College, UMass Dartmouth, and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, the report describes the jobs associated with planning, constructing, and servicing offshore wind projects and provides information on the education, skills, and health and safety credentials required for each job. The researchers utilized the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Jobs and Economic Development Impact (JEDI) Offshore Wind Model to estimate the number of jobs and economic impacts; the model was developed with Energy Department funding support.
