More than 90,000 Megawatts of Wind Energy Capacity Now Installed in the United States

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) released its U.S. Wind Industry Second Quarter 2018 Market Report and reported that the United States is now home to more than 90,000 megawatts of installed wind energy capacity, or enough to power more than 27 million average homes. Almost 19,000 megawatts are under construction at the end of the quarter. According to AWEA, a new American land-based wind turbine represents 2.32 megawatts of capacity on average, approximately enough to power 750 typical homes.
