$28 Million Funding Opportunity to Address Key Deployment Challenges for Offshore, Land-Based, and Distributed Wind Energy

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Wind Energy Technologies Office today released a $28 million funding opportunity to lower costs and address barriers to deployment of wind energy in all its applications—offshore, land-based, and distributed.
The four topic areas are:
- Topic Area 1: High-Voltage Direct Current for Offshore Wind Transmission - $9.7 million total for 5–6 projects
- Topic Area 2: Advancing Deployment of Distributed Wind - $3.3 million total for 2-4 projects
- Topic Area 3: Offshore Wind Energy Social Science Research - $6.9 million total for 4–8 projects
- Topic Area 4: Bat Deterrent Technology Development - $8 million for 3–8 projects.
