Iowa's Biggest Utility Aims to Produce All Its Energy from Renewable Sources

May 1, 2017

The Associated Press reported that MidAmerican Energy, Iowa's largest utility, is investing $3.6 billion in wind power with a goal of producing 100% of its energy from renewable sources. According to CEO Bill Fehrman, MidAmerican's rates are the ninth-lowest in the country and have increased only once since 1998. "A lot of that is because of the wind investment," Fehrman said. "We will be able to virtually serve 89% of our customers' needs with an energy resource that requires no fuel."
