Wind Energy Brings Comanche County, Texas, a Bit of Hope

May 8, 2017

Marketplace reporter Andy Uhler visited West Texas to investigate how the Logan's Gap Wind Farm has impacted residents of Comanche County. Uhler reports that in the early 2000s, Texas Governor Rick Perry (now U.S. Energy Secretary) started building infrastructure and financially supporting wind and solar power. Local officials worked to bring the wind farm to their area after the collapse of the peanut industry in the area dealt a blow to the local economy. According to developer Pattern Energy, the wind farm will bring Comanche County $80 million over the next 25 years.
