World's Largest Wind Turbines Begin Generating Power in England

May 31, 2017

MIT Technology Review reports that 32 8-megawatt wind turbines came online recently at the Burbo Bank wind farm off the northwest coast of England. According to project developer DONG Energy, a single revolution of the blades on one turbine can power a home for 29 hours.

The LEGO Group reported that it owns a 25% stake in the wind farm, which helped the company reach its 100% renewable energy target 3 years ahead of schedule. To celebrate, the LEGO Group "built the largest ever LEGO® brick wind turbine, a Guinness World Records™ title, and challenged children around the world to create their own renewable energy solutions."
