KidWind Challenge Season Recap: 35,000 Students Reached by Activities

Sept. 18, 2018

KidWind Challenge Director Michael Arquin recently summarized the accomplishments of the program's 2017-18 season, including 32 state-level KidWind Challenges in 24 states, more than 800 teachers trained in 33 states, and more than 4,000 students directly participating at KidWind Challenge events. KidWind Challenge participants build their own wind turbines and then compete in challenges. This year the National KidWind Challenge was hosted in partnership with the DOE's 2018 Collegiate Wind Competition, where a few students tested their turbines in the wind tunnels designed for the collegiate competition because they generated too much power for the KidWind Challenge equipment! Volunteers, mentors, and partners are needed for the upcoming KidWind Challenge season; learn more here.
