The U.S. Department of Energy has released the West Coast Offshore Wind Transmission Study and Action Plan for Offshore Wind Transmission Development in the U.S. West Coast Region. Funded by DOE’s Grid Deployment Office and co-managed by the Wind Energy Technologies Office, researchers at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (and National Renewable Energy Laboratory have shared the costs and benefits of adding floating offshore wind turbines along the United States’ Pacific coast. An action plan was also developed with the U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Ocean Energy Management.
