Wind Energy Equity Map
The WINDExchange’s Wind Energy Equity Map shows sociodemographic data on disadvantaged communities as well as the locations and capacity of land-based wind turbines across the United States.
This map is intended to function as a public resource for developers, decision makers, and local stakeholders to help facilitate a better understanding of the role of equity in wind energy development amidst the industry’s continued growth.
The sociodemographic data is sourced from the Energy Justice Mapping Tool – Disadvantaged Communities Reporter, which identifies census tracts categorized as disadvantaged by the U.S. Department of Energy. Wind turbine data is sourced from the U.S. Wind Turbine Database.
