A Retrospective Analysis of the Benefits and Impacts of U.S. Renewable Portfolio Standards

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory published this report, which evaluates the benefits and impacts of state renewable portfolio standard (RPS) policies. The study evaluates benefits associated with reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution, and water use. It also evaluates other impacts related to gross jobs and economic development, wholesale electricity market price suppression, and natural gas price suppression. The study is retrospective, focusing on benefits and impacts associated with RPS requirements in the year 2013 and quantifying these effects in physical and monetary terms where possible.
